Composting
What does this process consist of? How can we benefit from it?
Composting is a treatment through which organic materials are broken down, transforming them into a product that can be used as a fertilizer for our soils.
The decomposition of these elements occurs spontaneously in natural environments, but we can accelerate and optimize the process, taking advantage of it for the treatment of biodegradable waste ( pruning residues, kitchen plant remains, dry leaves, manure, among others).
The treatment consists of making batteries of organic materials, performing successive turns and maintaining optimal humidity and temperature. In this way, we can catalyze the natural decomposition of waste and promote the proliferation of beneficial microbiota, while eliminating unwanted seeds and propagules.
The material obtained is the compost: fertile and innocuous, free of weeds, pests and bad smells.
Compost is the perfect fertiliser:
It provides nutrients that are released slowly and controlled, avoiding runoff in ground sores and watercourses (the main route of nutrient loss and source of water pollution due to mineral fertilisers).
It provides organic matter, an essential fraction of the soils for the correct development of any crop. It strengthens the resilience of ecosystems, helps infiltration and water retention, boosts beneficial fauna and microbiology, increases nutrient absorption capacity, improves soil structure and prevents erosion, among others.
It provides beneficial microorganisms: during composting, a biological succession occurs in which fungi and bacteria proliferate that favor the health of our soils and crops, while pathogens are eliminated.
We recommend applying compost to your crops at least twice a year, in early spring and autumn, or in each planting.
In TERVEX you can find top quality compost, based on different materials according to need and preferences:
ORGABON: very fine compound, with a great supply of nutrients, based on manure and pine bark.
BOSQUI: medium granulometry compound, with a good supply of nutrients, based on crushed pruning remains and enriched with manure.
